Sex robots: when AI seduces Legal and ethical considerations

The Lower Saxony Ministry of Economic Affairs, the Niedersachsen.next digital agency and Leibniz University Hannover invite you to the special event “Sex robots: When AI seduces - legal and ethical considerations” on January 14, 2025.

Artificial intelligence (AI) opens up new possibilities and mind games in many areas. This becomes clear in the film “Musing of a mechatronic mistress: The Peculiar Purpose Of Tiffany The Sex Robot”, which will be shown during this event. It deals with various social, political and ethical aspects, which are thematized through the main character, a self-confident sex robot named Tiffany.

In a world where technology and humanity are intertwined, Tiffany embarks on a journey of self-discovery. She talks to experts, including Iris Phan from Leibniz University-Hannover, and is confronted with the social norms, body image stereotypes and patriarchal influences that have shaped her design. Tiffany navigates the complexities of interdisciplinary communication, the rise of AI companions and the vast realm of innovative sex technology. With each revelation, Tiffany's contemplative journey challenges viewers' perceptions and forces them to question the boundaries of technology, desire and societal expectations.

After a short introduction on the topic of artificial intelligence in a social context, we will present the film “Musing of a mechatronic mistress: The Peculiar Purpose Of Tiffany The Sex Robot”. Afterwards, we will welcome the director Jasmin Hagendorfer and the experts involved in the documentary, Johannes Grenzfurthner, Iris Phan and Dr. Alexander Georgiadis from the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Lower Saxony, among others, to a panel discussion.
